During the Covid-19 pandemic Haringey Council approached us to develop a project that would support local businesses and creatives, two of Haringey’s main economic drivers. Bud Studio developed two shutter galleries in Tottenham and Turnpike Lane. Local artists were given paid opportunities whilst local businesses got a free tailor made artwork.
We developed an open call for local artists and facilitated collaboration between local businesses and the artists. Bud Studio managed the creation of shutter decks, installation of artworks, liaison of business and artists, payment for artists, and the photography of the completed artworks.
In total we have delivered 74 shutters collaborating with 38 local artists and 61 local businesses. The shutter gallery re-engaged existing customers and enticed new customers back to the high street, whilst giving paid opportunities to local creatives.
